What does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?

-- Micah 6:8

As Christians, we frequently hear Micah 6:8. Recently my pastor explained it in a way that made me feel like I could apply the verse just about every day. The bottom line of the sermon was that when we see the injustices around us, the best way to fix them is through demonstrating love.

There are lots of ways that we can love. Love can come in the form of resources by sharing funds, materials, or skills with charities. Volunteering, feeding a homeless person, doing chores for a friend recovering from surgery, cooking for a sick neighbor, or helping a lost pet find its owner are actions showing mercy and love. Spending time with someone free of judgement, hugging a child who is having a tough day, or texting a friend experiencing grief are all ways to show love through human connection. The list is endless.

The magic of loving on the injustices you come across is that you don't necessarily have to do something big and complex to help turn an injustice into a justice. The way we choose to bandage our world with love is individual and deeply personal based on the journey each of us is taking with God. The important thing is that we recognize the injustices around us and keep addressing them with His guidance.

Keep on loving, ladies!
