FAQs

  • When is the Annual Meeting? Why is our Calendar different?

Our new Horizon Texas Conference is built on the traditions of three legacy conferences. Ideas are considered and seriously discussed. Our efforts honor the involvement of many long-time members from across Texas while doing our best to attract new women to our sisterhood.

Saturday, November 1, 2025 - special virtual meeting
All members are invited to virtually attend a special HTC UWFaith meeting to elect officers and approve the budget for 2026. Plans are also being made for a special gathering with the girls at the Jerri Savuto Center in Kenya that morning following the short business meeting.

January 15, 2026 - Local UWFaith Groups' 2025 Annual Reports Due
Local reports now cover the calendar year from January to December, as the Reading Program does on a national level. It should be easier for local leadership to complete these reports because most officers serve calendar year terms. See the Annual Report forms on our website under the Resources tab. They were approved by the Unification Team and presented at the Inaugural Event on Nov. 9th in Abilene. Now is a good time to see what is on the forms. At year's end they can be submitted easily online or by printing out a form and mailing it.

Saturday, March 7th, 2026 - Conference Annual Meeting
Our next Conference UWFaith Annual Meeting will be a celebration of our first year as Horizon Texas UWFaith! Plan to celebrate all we've done together and our plans for 2026! This meeting will be in Dallas.

Refer to our UWFaithHTC.org website for full information!

Our website calendar is kept up-to-date and always available to confirm dates, details, and locations.

    • District information - each District has a webpage that lists District officers, their contact information, District events and updates. Local officers: ask for support as needed from your District counterparts and keep in touch!

  • Where Does the Money Go?

  • What area does the new Horizon Texas Conference cover?

Here you can see all the current conferences in the South Central Jurisdiction. The three conferences that have unified are in the white border.

Notice the relative size of the other conferences. We have been used to relatively small geographic conferences. Horizon Texas Conference is a new larger-area, but will not be the largest conference. This will be an adjustment but the size of our new conference will be similar to others across the country. Think of it this way: our sisterhood has grown!

  • Will we continue to do things like Mission u and Social Action events in our area?

The Horizon Texas Conference UWFaith will continue the tradition of hosting conference events annually such as Mission u, Charter for Racial Justice Events, and Soul Care / Spiritual Growth Retreats / Day Apart. The Horizon Texas Conference United Women in Faith Conference Leadership Team will be responsible for planning and executing these events. Conference officers and appointed leaders (such as Mission u Dean) and their committees will provide leadership for their events.

There will be every effort made to have events that are accessible throughout the conference membership.  There may be repeated events in different locations and times and/or live-streaming an In-Person event. It will be a priority, of course, to make these events accessible to women in all parts of the new Conference.  But the “former/ legacy conferences” will not each have their own events. There won’t be CTC or NTC or NWTC events.  All conference events will be Horizon Texas Conference United Women in Faith Events.

The districts will each be able to create and host their own events just like they have always done. It is important for the district leadership to avoid programing at the same date as a conference event.

  • It's 2025 - Do we have new UWFaith Priorities (yet)?

    No, we do not. Why?

The reality is that mass incarceration of communities of color, climate and environmental justice have always been and continue to be issues that impact women, children and youth, in all communities everywhere, whether we choose to recognize it or not. We cannot give up advocating for justice and change. Even small wins or steps make a difference . . . read more in this response article. The end of the article lists three easy steps we can take to prepare for 2025 and beyond.

  • How will this new conference affect my UWFaith experience?

Most of what you experience locally will stay the same. We’ll all still be organized for mission, spiritual growth and fellowship. You can maintain all your local UWFaith traditions and participate in District projects and events, and Conference projects and events. You may continue to volunteer at and support your local missions as you have been.

Our Conference will cover a larger geographical area so we will have more sisters in our Conference community. The unified Conference will still host Mission u, Racial Justice events, Soul Care events, mission projects, and newsletters.

Districts are going to stay the same (mostly) - except for new names. See the District Tab on this website.

  • How was the name of this new conference chosen?

Our new conference name is the Horizon Texas Conference.

From the Unification report: The horizon is the boundary separating the sky from the land and sea. Sometimes, we view the horizon as a limiting factor- either physically or in our human understanding.  It can be easy to focus on what is right in front of us, rather than looking beyond. But as believers, our faith carried us past the horizon, seeking something more than what our eyes can see.  Expanding our horizon opens new opportunities for ministry and for creating disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Naming Sub-Team Committee agreed that keeping “Texas” in the name was crucial and in keeping with the other two Texas Conferences in our jurisdiction.
